This year’s poster competition was won by four year old Kemin, and his design was illustrated and brought to life for our poster and flyers by artist, Jennyboat. Every year the festival decorations are made by local primary school children from recycled materials. This year the theme was our oceans. We will display their sculptures including a giant mermaid at the festival. Local arts students from Orpington college have made banners to go accross the front of our main stage.
Enchanted Children’s Festival have facilitated free theatre workshops for local teenagers with autism, run by local charity, CASPA and actress and experienced SEN practitioner, Nicky Hallet. The workshops take place in the lead up to the festival where they will perform on the main stage.
In collaboration with Orpington 1st and Coolings Garden Centre, Enchanted Children’s Festival is taking part in London in Bloom. Children are invited to use their creativity and imagination to upcycle and prettify some plant pots to be planted and displayed on Orpington High Street to participate in the Mayor of London's London in Bloom campaign for the summer.
Enchanted Children’s Festival will participate with Gusita the Giant Turtle, her maker, Flee Jones and the local primary schools’ art work in a parade on Orpington High Street to celebrate World Ocean Day on the 8th of June.
Write a wish and hang it from an olive branch. Wishes will be sent to join wishes from all over the world at Yoko Ono’s Peace Tower in Videy, Iceland. The olive trees were kindly donated by Coolings Gardening Centre.
Congratulations to 4 year old Kemin from Petts Wood, who won our 'design our poster' competition this year and 4 x tickets to Orpington, Odeon cinema.
His drawing was hand picked by our amazing illustrator @JennyBoatDraws who, with her magic fingers digitally transformed it into this years artwork.
